Art is a wonderful way to show your creativity.
Did you know taking pictures is art? And anyone can be an artist, including kids! Here are a few secrets to help you make beautiful art through photography.

Protect your camera
A camera is not a toy and has to be taken care of so it can record the beautiful things you see. Make sure you store it in a safe place, like a camera bag.

Focus
Nope, I'm not talking about your picture being blurry. I mean focus in on your object so there aren't too many things in the picture - that's kind of distracting. Think to yourself - what is the most beautiful or most unusual thing I see through the camera lens right now? Ok - now focus in on that.

Lighting
If you take a picture of a tree first thing in the morning, and then take a picture of the same tree just before the sunset, it will look like a different tree. Lighting is very important to good photography. Make sure you have enough light to capture the details of your object. If you are taking pictures in a dark place, it's a good idea to use a flash.

Distance
Just like lighting, adjusting the distance from the object to the camera can create a whole new picture. Have you ever seen a leaf up close? You can see every wrinkle, every scar and every fleck of color. But when you move farther away from the leaf, you can see the whole tree or the entire pile of leaves. Try taking a picture of an object up close and then at a distance. See how many differences you can find when you compare the two pictures.

Practice
Remember, you'll get better with practice! Start taking your camera wherever you go (with permission, of course). You never know when you'll find the perfect shot. And if your pictures aren't turning out, just remember to keep trying!

Display
Your photographs can make great art! Hang your pictures on the refrigerator in your kitchen or on the wall above your bed.

Have Fun!
Photography is lots of fun - so what are you waiting for.
